Statement on Governor Hochul’s First State of the State Address from Rafael E. Cestero, President & CEO, The Community Preservation Corporation

“In Governor Hochul’s historic first State of the State, she provided a roadmap that will leverage the resources and political will to make our State more affordable and equitable and which will strengthen and revitalize our communities.

The Governor’s new $25 billion five-year Housing Plan is coming at a crucial time for New York. As we start to see the end of the pandemic, we must not go backwards as a state, which means ensuring that all New Yorkers are stably housed and that those most in need receive the relief and resources they need. From creating or preserving 100,000 affordable homes and electrifying an additional 50,000 homes, to providing housing and support for our most vulnerable populations, and committing to fixing NYCHA, the Governor’s new housing agenda sets New York up to succeed. We at CPC are excited to get to work on helping realize this Housing Plan in partnership with Governor Hochul, her team and our partners across the state.”
