Hudson River Housing has secured a $2.4 million loan from the Community Preservation Corp. to rehabilitate its homeless shelter in the Town of LaGrange.

The CPC said 116 units of housing at 389 Manchester Road is composed of a 100-unit single-room occupancy building and a 16-unit townhouse complex. The building, known as Gannett House, has served as the primary emergency homeless and transitional housing facility for Dutchess County. It is sponsored by several state agencies.

Improvements, CPC said, will include new heating, water mains, toilets, doors and weatherstripping, lighting, stairs and rails, insulation, floor coverings, some window replacement and various other repairs.

The loan is a first mortgage New York State Pension Fund permanent loan.

Doug Olcott, senior vice president and Hudson Valley regional director for CPC, said the project shows a “commitment to financing supporting housing that will help families to get back on their feet” and seek more permanent housing.

Nonprofit Hudson River Housing is based in the City of Poughkeepsie.
