Former Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy has been named to the board of directors at a nonprofit affordable housing lender in New York City.
Duffy, who served under Gov. Andrew Cuomo and is president and CEO of the Rochester Business Alliance, is now on the board of the Community Preservation Corporation, the organization is scheduled to announce Wednesday.
Duffy served as mayor of Rochester before Cuomo tapped him to be lieutenant governor during his first term.
At CPC, Duffy will work with the rest of the board to increase the organization’s capacity for financing housing projects in low-income communities with a specific focus on upstate projects, spokesman Eric Bederman said.
The board position is uncompensated.
“As a public servant who has dedicated his career to meeting the needs of New Yorkers, Robert brings to our board a deep understanding and knowledge of our state and shares CPC’s commitment to creating and preserving high-quality housing for communities in need,” CPC’s president Rafael Cestero said in a press release. Cestero worked as former mayor Michael Bloomberg’s housing commissioner.
“This opportunity allows me to assist the CPC team by serving as its eyes and ears in upstate New York as we identify and support projects aimed at positively impacting the lives of families,” Duffy said, according to the release.
